I have this brilliant friend.

I have this brilliant friend.

I have this brilliant and thoughtful friend, and every time she speaks, I want to listen because her words are filled with so much earnest truth.

I have this brilliant, thoughtful storyteller of a friend, and when she speaks or writes, I want to listen to her words because they are filled with so much earnest truth and unyielding curiosity.

I have this brilliant, thoughtful, storytelling, beautiful friend who loves to dance, and when she dances, I want to watch her because this is where her real words are—releasing pain and joy from her body with so much earnest truth, unyielding curiosity, and a hunger for life.

I have this brilliant, thoughtful, storytelling, beautiful, and powerful friend, and when she speaks, writes, or dances, I want to witness her because there is so much earnest truth, unyielding curiosity, pain and joy, a hunger for life, and an affirming sense of freedom.

I have this friend who wore this Victorian beaded necklace while dancing, and when she is in the power of telling the story of herself, I think she is too big for this world and especially for physical things, and so this necklace burst and scattered along the dance floor where she was shedding parts of herself.

I have this friend who returned these pieces to me, afraid of the breaking, and I laughed because it’s just so perfect. Now I have these earrings, these gold parts shaped like vessels that hold little moments of magic of my friend, swinging freely from a simple endless hoop to impart some of that freedom to you too.
